K Why is governance and political economy analysis important? Increasingly, it is recognized that governance and political economy factors play a critical role in shaping development effectiveness and development outcomes. It is also important to gain better understanding of the environment—at country as well as at sector levels—in which World Bank operations are taking place, to define feasible entry points and seize opportunities to promote progressive change.
